Glamping at Wigwam holiday in Forcett Grange, North Yorkshire

Ad - This was a gifted stay.

I love a good glamping stay, I never seem to do them enough in the UK! We’re so lucky to have the countryside we do and we should all probably utilise it more. A break away from home for a few days or even a weekend is sometimes just what the doctor ordered. I’m quite lucky a lot are on my doorstep, or a short drive like Forcett Grange is.

I was so in need of some R&R too. So the thought of having some peace and quiet at Wigwam Holidays at Forcett Grange sounded a dream. I love the whole vibe of glamping, it’s such a change from the usual hotel stay. Since we stayed at the lodges in Cornwall a few years back it opened my options up to an alternative to camping!

Where is it located?

The wigwams at Forcett Grange are in North Yorkshire. They are located just outside of Barnard Castle and Richmond. So there is lots around the area for visiting little towns and walking too. So even if you’re wanting to pop into York for the day, you’re only a short drive away.

What is there on the site?

The site is simple and just what you need. You have your log fire and the dark skies to occupy yourself. There is also a trust shop on site, where you can buy firewood and fire starters should you run out on your stay. The car parking is also a short walk from your lodge and it is all accessible by way of a ramp.

What amenities does the wigwam have?

You have a comfortable double bed, plus other beds which can pull out if required. The wigwam has a small kitchen area too, which has a stove, kettle, toaster, fridge and sink. Enough to cook yourself a perfect breakfast in the morning. There is also a large accessible en-suite bathroom with a wet room shower.

Do they offer any extras?

As well as just booking the lodge, you can add fancy extras. Should it be a special weekend away or just wanting to treat yourself. You can add yourself the likes of a robes package with a bottle of Prosecco, or marshmallows to toast on the fire. If you go in Winter I would definitely recommend the robes, it’s a chilly walk!

Hot tub from the lodge

The outside area

So as well as all you need inside, there’s everything you need outside. From a large picnic bench which could seat up to 8 people, to a log wood burner beside it. Snuck at the side of the lodge is the best hot tub you’ll enter! It’s a wood fired hot tub, which is the first I’ve ever seen. You light yourself a toasty fire to heat up your tub an hour or so before you want to get it, it then heats up to the perfect temperature. There is something different to sitting in a hot tub in the night with the fire burning under the stars. It’s so peaceful as it’s tucked away in the woods, so your hear a mixture of the owls hooting away too!

How much is it?

There is different prices depending on how long/when you are wanting to go. I actually think the Wigwam Holidays at Fawcett Grange is one of the best value ones there is. I’ve looked all over for ones and this gives you such good value for money!

Being away glamping in the wigwam really made me realise how much I needed a quiet break! Me and my friends are already talking about how much we want to go back for a nice girly weekend. But it’s also the perfect weekend if you’re a solo traveller, a couple, a family or again just a few friends. It can cater to anyone and I’d really recommend the break!

They also have amazing deals on for New Year which I think we all wish we were doing! You can also check out my stories on Instagram to see the rest of the trip!
