If you don’t already know, I’m 100% a doggo mam through and through. I’ll definitely be the one who is surrounded by dogs instead of children in the future. I mean, who can’t resist their cute little faces to come home to!

I have the cutest little Spaniel and Beagle at home, the Beagle being a rescue. If you know anything about Beagles, they love their food (too much). Feeding them the best food can help them stay with you that little bit longer and be healthy. Who wouldn’t want to do everything they can to do that?

What is Hills Pet food?

Hills is a pet food brand that was founded by a vet who knew how bad some of the commercial pet food brands can be. There is so many well known pet food brands that are full of chemicals that can damage your pups kidneys, always read the ingredients for what you’re feeding them! Hills food was made originally to help dogs with kidney problems from the commercial food in the 1900’s, and went on from there to help dogs have better diets.

What makes them different?

Hills pet food have so many different ranges depending on your dogs age, breed, size and dietary requirements. It’s quite easy for Beagles to get a little chunky, so he does every now and then get put back on weight management food.

Whereas my Spaniel is nearly 10 now so she needs some based on her age, she needs lots of nutrients to help her digestion and keeping he teeth and hair in good condition. She’s a lot more energetic than the Beagle though, as you probably know if you’ve seen spaniels, so she never has to diet like the chunky Beagle!

How expensive is it?

You can get cheap dog food, but you have to be so careful for what you’re feeding them. You wouldn’t feed yourself something full of chemicals, so why would you feed it to them. Having pets comes with a responsibility and they rely on you to look after them.

15kg bags average on £30, dependant on the type you buy. Obviously the more specific requirements your dog needs, like specific prescription diets, will be more pricey!

What do the dogs think of it?

To be quite honest, my dogs would eat anything, but you can more so tell in their energy levels. By eating good food they’re always a lot more alert, and their teeth and coat are in good condition. Spaniels coats are so obvious to see what their diet is like, and as Ruby is black if he coat isn’t shiny you know she’s not feeling to good!

Ruby is on the Mature 7+ Chicken Dry Food and Louie is on the Medium Adult Chicken Dry Food, and they love it.

Looking after your pets is so important, they’re only here for a short part of your life, but you are there for their whole life. Nothing can beat coming home to happy little faces and snuggles after a long week!
