Why should you visit Hull?

Hull Street sesh
This is a paid post, but all views/experiences are my own.

I’d never been to Hull until a few years ago as one of my friends live there. We rarely visit each others home towns, but Hull has so many events on to not end up going! I first visited for a girly weekend of sight seeing, food, drinks and films, I got the chance to go around the touristy places and try lots of good food.

The next time we came for the Humber Streetsesh, which was such good fun. We don’t often have anything in Newcastle like it, and there was such a good vibe across the whole event. I need to go back again, I’m definitely overdue a trip (and Zoo Cafe). If you didn’t see this tweet, this is why you need to visit Hull!

What is there to do in Hull?

As well as there always being events on somewhere in town (see all the events here), there is also so many places to visit there too. Whether you want to go to a museum, aquarium, visit the halls or just generally visit for a night out there is loads to do. I loved my 2018 trips to Hull.

  • The Deep – An aquarium down at the docks at Hull, even at 26 I still love to visit here.
  • Humber Bridge – We solely came here once to just drive across it on our way home from holidays, yes I am sad.
  • Streetlife Museum – A museum of all the 1940s stores and trams.
  • Hull Maritime Museum – All the history of hull, and it’s free!
  • Hull Minster – I love buildings like this so I love being able to visit them!
  • Trinity Market – This place always reminds me of Central Arcade in Newcastle, they also sell pizza cones which I’m still dying to try!
  • Spiders – I’m sorry, but a trip to Hull isn’t complete until you visit here. Where else can you listen to Blink 182 and System of a Down in one place? It’s legit the best bar and I wish I’d been a student here!
  • Hull University – This is the prettiest campus ever, so pop in whilst you’re nearby too!

Staying in Hull

When I very first visited Hull I stayed in a nearby lodge at Raywell Hall, but there is so many different types of accommodation now. Grab yourself a fancy Airbnb or even a Holiday Inn!

Zoo Cafe Hull

Where to eat?

I must admit, I have actually only ever ate at Zoo Cafe in Hull. I mean multiple times on each visit, it is so so good! So please go, at least once, especially more so if you’re a vegan!

If you’re out looking for food though, visit Princes Ave and Newland Ave. There is a mixture of everything you could need for food, and all delish too!

Studying in Hull

If you have the chance to be a student here, there is so much to do. The University host so many events throughout the city, as well as parts of Humber Street Sesh. Hull is the City of Culture until 2021, so there is never not something going on. Whether you like to see bands at Trinity Live or trying new things, there is always a way to keep yourself busy.

Plus everyone is so so friendly, who knew you could pop out to Spider or a Street Sesh and meet so many people?

Have you ever visited Hull before? Get yourself down to Humber Street Sesh in August and see what all the fuss is about!
