Review of Tapas Revolution Newcastle upon Tyne

It’s been a while since I’ve been to a Tapas restaurant, and I’ve been meaning to try Tapas Revolution for a few months now since it opened in the Greys Quarter. Tapas reminds me of being on holiday, which feels like a life time away now! So it was quite nice to have a relaxing Thursday night with a bottle of wine and yummy Tapas with my cousin, we definitely deserved it after the last few weeks.

We actually tried some things I may not have usually got, I’m in the process of stopping being a baby with food seeing as I’m 24. There was once (not long ago) that I would only ever eat the plainest foods, so glad I’m out of that as this was lush!
What we tried:
- Pan Con Alioli which is bread with homemade garlic mayo, which is the best garlic mayo ever known to man!
- Croquetas de jamon which are deep fried ham and bechamel croquettes, I love every form of croquettes.. these even more so.
- Albondigas en salsa which are beef meatballs in tomato and white wine sauce. Spanish meatballs always taste 10x better than any other!
- Huevos rotos, these were my favourite of the bunch! Baked chorizo, potatoes and free range egg.. everything with chorizo is the best dish!
- Gambas al ajillo, weirdly I only started eating prawns a year ago and now I love them. These were garlic and chilli tiger prawns, for tiger prawns they were on the small side but they were ok!
- Patatas bravas are always a trusty one to get, especially if you’re a potato lover.. like me! They were coated in a spicy tomato sauce and more alioli. Garlic galore!
- Tortilla de patatas is a new one for me, I would never have thought to try this. It is a classic Spanish omelette with potato and onion, it was huge! It was surprisingly lovely too!
- Alitas de pollo a la miel y limon or, chicken wings marinated in lemon and honey. These were lovely, but for me not as sweet as I like them.

At Tapas Revolution they do either set menus, with three to choose from at £10pp to £14pp. Or alternatively, you can pick and choose as many or as little as you would like. We didn’t go little, we went for 8 cause we’re both big foodies, but it was so worth it!
Have you tried out Tapas Revolution yet? I would definitely recommend it, along with a nice bottle of white wine!
