Things I need to do after lockdown

For someone who spends quite a lot of time at home and work when I’m not travelling. I thought I would enjoy lockdown. But apparently it not being my choice makes me wish it was over. It’s something I probably should have done already but I’ve realised some things I need to do after lockdown is over. Some things I probably took for granted doing or just had a lazy day instead.
Things I need to do after lockdown:
Spending time outdoors
I love love seeing families out for walks each evening and weekends now. It’s definitely something I want to keep up. Being at work through the week means I miss my weekdays but I definitely need to make up for it at a weekend more. It’s so easy after a tough week of commuting back and forth to work to want to do something. But even dedicating an hour to a bike ride or walk will make such a difference.
Visiting friends
I’m such a recluse and so easily stay in every weekend without seeing anyone other than the gym. I definitely need to spend more time with friends, going for lunch, going for a walk etc. It’s the little things you didn’t think about until you couldn’t do it. I always tend to save big events for arranging to see friends, like a night out, so I definitely need to arrange to see them more.
Seeing family
I see my parents daily, but I definitely need to take more time visiting my aunties, cousins etc. My trips to my grandparents are so much more meaningful now too. How I’d love to be able to sit and have fish and chips with my grandma. Something definitely taken for granted.
Travel!
I know this one is quite obvious for me, but having everything cancelled really made it apparent how much it means to me. I love visiting new places, meeting new amazing people and experiencing different food so much. I love being able to experience this with my favourite people too, miss them so much!
See more concerts
I squeezed my first concert of 2020 in January luckily, but my June one has now been cancelled. I was so looking forward to Fall Out Boy! Being on lockdown the most important thing that got me through was music. Whether listening to it in the garden, on my bike etc.
Doing more of what I love
In lockdown I’ve remembered my love for painting/art, something I’ve neglected since leaving college. I’ve been doing embroidery and now embracing my old painting side. I’ve also discovered a love for cycling and it’s something I’d love to keep up when it’s over.
Putting the effort in
Whether this is the gym (which is miss an embarrassing amount), friends, family and my food! I’ve loved being able to still work out at home but I definitely miss the push you get from your team at the gym! Eating fresh healthy food has been so much easier in lockdown. I wish was easier to do when back at work. But lockdown has made me realised I can do my nutrition goals if I put my mind to it!
CrossFit
If you’ve been reading this for a while, or follow me on Instagram, you will know about my love for Cross Fit. It’s not just the gym, it’s the community of tight knit people too. I’ve been doing a lot of the Cross Fit workouts at home but it definitely isn’t the same. I’m definitely going to work on my weaknesses and try to improve when I get back. I’m so easy scared of looking stupid.. but I bet no one actually cares!
I’ve had a love hate relationship with lockdown. But it really has made me realise the important things in life and the things I miss and enjoy. One the good days I realised I can do things I put my mind to. And I can enjoy my own company. On the bad days I learnt what to do to make me feel better. I’ve even learnt how to communicate with my friends better, probably the first time I’ve loved video chatting. Which, with friends so far away like I have, would think I’d of used more before!
What is something you’ve came to realise in lockdown? What changes are you going to make when we come out the other side?
